This is the view I have from the hotel front entrance ... it's what I see each day as I go out. 
The tower is part of an old castle right in the heart of Pune.
I am told that there is a tunnel (which is not open) that connnects this castle structure to the Parvati castle and temple - which is situated on top of a hill on the outskirts of town. This structure is maintained by the Indian military, who have a base here.
